There are several types of adjusting methods that I use, ranging from gentle non-force to traditional manipulation. Your condition will dictate which method is used.
Modalities such as ultrasound, muscle stimulation, traction, laser, and interferential are often used to reduce pain, reduce muscle spasm, and increase blood flow. Physiotherapy will vary depending on whether the condition is acute or chronic.
IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization)
Myofascial bodywork is a wonderful method used to break up scar tissue and adhesions, which are often the cause of dysfunctional movement patterns. Treatments are short, specific, and effective for a wide variety of ailments. The effects of IASTM include pain relief, increased flexibility, increased strength, enhanced recovery, and in most cases complete resolution of symptoms.
Depending on the taping method, the tape can have a neurosensory, structural, or microcirculatory effect. You will leave my office looking like a super hero!
Stretching and Strengthening
It doesn't matter how young or not so young you are, I will help you stretch and strengthen. If you work with a personal trainer or belong to a gym, I will assist in creating a program that is designed for you.
Nutritional recommendations will be made according to your needs. Maybe you're not happy with your current weight, fatigued, have high cholesterol, have osteoporosis, or just want to make some dietary changes. The power of the fork should not be taken lightly!
I always tell my patients that you can't build a straight house on a crooked foundation. The same is true for the body. If your feet are flat (pronation) then the structures above will be stressed and the body will compensate. Custom orthotics are a great way to stabilize the "foundation' of the body.
